2013 Spoto Family Reserve from Lauren Ashe Vineyard Secret Acre fruit. And my first time tasting this wine from a bottle I have popped myself. Rather strong concentration of milk chocolate drunken black cherry on the nose. A fair hint of sweetness right off the bat. On the palate, this wine is trending to a fuller body expression of classic Napa Cabernet but is surprisingly complex for being so young. Definitely more of the youthful exuberant not overdone style. Black cherry, Blackberry, Sandalwood, graphite, trending to the middle and finish, with much sharper angles than a 2006 Entre Nous that it was enjoyed alongside that was less obtuse and more settled down. When this one reaches the maturity of the 2006, it will no doubt have more powerful fruit to go with that rounded mouthfeel in the middle and finish. Bravo Spoto on creating a great wine from the secret acre!
