It's not going to win any awards for complexity, but offers an honest old vine zin experience at a reasonable price.

Italian-American meat sauce pasta and 12 year old Amador Zin... A match! The wine was every bit as rich as the sauce, from a volcanic plot that has been organic since the way-backs!

Nestled on a Southwest facing hillside in one of the higher elevations (near 3000 feat) in the Sierra foothills is a vineyard that was planted before the turn of the last century by the original owners, D’Agostini family. Bought by Leon Sobon (Shenandoan Vineyards) in the early 1990s. Deep red with purple tones and aromas of dark fruit and pepper spice. On the palate plum and cherry flavors with toasty oak notes and black pepper. Fine tannins, nice balance on medium finish, great value.

Zin is a favorite varietal and this is from my old stomping grounds in Amador County. Always a favorite winery and this Rocky Top plot produces great flavors!

Yet another great Zinfandel from Sobon Estate! On top of their wines being fantastic they are family owned, super friendly, and easy to talk to. Tom Quinn is hilarious and super informative with the history and all their wines, as well as the world of wine. Visit them in Amador County California!
