This week I had the pleasure of opening the 2016 Snowden The Ranch Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. St.Helena, California.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, chocolate, mint, chewing tobacco and graphite.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, graphite, spice, mint, anise, lavender and dark rich earth.
This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium+ fine mouthcoating tannins which leads to a long pronounced dark fruit graphite finish. I hope everyone's weekend was relaxing and enjoyable. Let's have a great week ahead and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

I really liked this. Ripe but with poise and elegance, freshness, ripe and polished tannin. Currants, Bing cherries, cassis, pencil lead, all the classic Cabernet notes. The oak is perfectly used here, perfectly integrated. An ode the old days but with the know how of today! Decant 1 hour. Well done #dianasnowden

I drank this over three days and kept waiting for it to show a little more delineation, but it just didn’t have it to show. I’m finding many of the $40-$60 wines from 2012 to be a bit underwhelming. They seem to be fairly straightforward and lack the definition and complexity other vintages have shown. I haven’t dipped into my higher-end 2012s yet, but I hope they don’t show the same character.

Juicy and crunchy red and black cassis that went darker on the palate. Allspice, hints of dried leaves and pulverized tarragon. Elevated acid, fine-grained soft tannins. 2018 vintage.
