Merlot/cab franc blend. This was pretty good, but unremarkable following two pretty good cabs. If you like right-bank styles, this is a good sample of one from the US. Although, I wouldn't say there is tremendous value at $50-ish.

Color is dark opaque red with purple hues. Nose started off tight with notes of smoke and oak. Changed to more green peppers and dried herbs. The palate started off savory with notes of meat, smoke and herbs then finished with dark berries and cassis. Moderate tannins 6.5/10 and moderate body, still needs to integrate smoothly. Finish was moderate and didn't fully flow with the wine. Needs a couple years to integrate.

Brambly aromas of cherry, tobacco and vanilla. Blackberry and cherry flavors with earthy overtones. Trey has got this down to an art.

Really like this wine. Lots of dark fruit with plenty of creme de cassis.
