Big red and blue fruits, a mouth feel for days and oh the texture, seemed gritty but it a very enjoyable way but the wine was clean and no sediment.

Wild raspberries, hints of clove and sweet minty herbs lift up to form an inviting bouquet as the 2019 Rosso di Montalcino opens up in the glass. While silky in feel, there’s tremendous concentration here, motivated by brisk acids, drenching the palate in tart wild berries and minerals. Grippy tannins linger long, making for a lightly structured and penetrating finale. This full-throttle yet balanced Rosso is showing beautifully, but it needs some time to soften. (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)

Similar to previous note. Mid Ruby in colour. Nose of red and black cherry, black pepper and a hint of spice. The palate shows ripe cherry fruit - almost plummy with plum skins finishing with silty fine persistent tannins. Very easy to drink and a must with food.

Have been looking forward to trying the much touted 2016 vintage of Rosso di Montalcino. Mid to deep Ruby in colour with red cherry fruit Mushroom and spice notes which carry through to the palate finishing with sandy earthy tannins. Designed to be drinkable when young but this has enough stuffing to go for 4 to 5 years. Augers well for when the 2016 Brunellos are released. From a producer new to me and recommended by Prince Wine Store and their Italian experts in Melbourne. Accompanied by a Linguini pasta with tomato mushrooms and anchovies - a good match.

The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino is one of the most nuanced and delicate wines of the vintage. Sweet red cherry, mint, spice and star anise all run through the 2015. Light on its feet and gracious (for a Pacenti Rosso), the 2015 is absolutely gorgeous in the way it melds together the textural richness that is a signature of this wine with tons of Sangiovese character. I loved it. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2019)

Intensely old school. Balsamic, stewed tomato skins, ash, leafy, black cherry. Big acid wine with an impeccable bitterness in the mid palate. Classic savory character in a tough vintage.

Makes you salivate, smells like all savory, tomatoes. Tastes like a pizza baby.

I used to pick sides in the modern/traditional thing but I don't care any more, I'm not into sides in general, I just want good wine made by hand with vision and passion. This wine was friggin' delicious, lots of red fruit, earth, tar, we had it with a classic red sauce that I cooked all day, heaven.
