Day 3 in Napa in the books! Running a day behind on notes...Napa time runs slow AND fast!

Had no clue they made a pinot. From west Petaluma. Smoky (has nothing to do with fires). More meat notes here than any other Pinot I’ve had. Would have guessed cool climate whole cluster Syrah if tasting blind. Smoked plum, underripe blackberries, tart black cherry pie and savory herbal notes.

This is their 17 Pinot. I asked Delectable to add it. If I remember correctly, it’s their first Pinot vintage.

On the nose, lots of smokiness (they say it’s the style, not the fires. 🤔 🤭 We’ll see in the next vintage) Ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, heavily exacted pomegranate, strawberries with hues of blueberries. Lightly integrated layered baking spices; cinnamon, clove, vanilla. Red & blue flowers with violets.

The body is medium. This Pinot does show some fine teeth tannins. There is a smokiness on the palate as well. 🤔 🤭 Ripe, slightly candied; blackberries, dark cherries, heavily exacted pomegranate, strawberries with hues of blueberries. Lightly integrated layered baking spices; cinnamon, clove, vanilla. Red & blue flowers with violets. There is a sense of alcohol burn in the back of the throat. Nice round acidity. The finish is elegant, round and well polished but does leave a small alcohol burn.

Photos of, Sinegal and their outside terrace, Owners - James & David Sinegal and their lake on the backside of their property that butts up to Flora Springs. They share the water with Flora Springs.

Third and final bottle of this wine, it’s been 3 years. Time has not been kind. Very smoky, gamey meat, underripe fruit, mostly red.

I had my first bottle of this about a year ago. It must have been a bad bottle, it was undrinkably smoky. Today I had a second bottle and it was much better. A bright cherry, slightly smoky, earthy Pinot.

Definitely smoky on the nose and in the mouth. Jammy fruit, fine tannins, lingering smoky, blueberry. More I drank harder to drink. Too much smoke. Affected by fire maybe?
