Great wine, some berries, currant, not jammy or overpowering. Really smooth. Delicious!

2012. I've been waylaid too many times by malbecs that are flabby, insipid, and short. As a result I reflexively reach for something else. Tonight I resisted that impulse and I'm glad I did. This wine opens with a nose of bright red fruit and spice. In the mouth it is loaded with refreshing acid. After a bit it settles into a darker, more savory profile. Shows great balance, with its 14.3% abv perfectly integrated. Paired beautifully tonight with our spicy tri-tip. Delicious.

Beautiful in the glass and spicey on the nose. Cinnamon and star anise come thru with subtle dark fruit on the palate. Sleek tannins lead to a long fruity finish with some herbaciousness as well. A very nice wine.

I'll admit that I haven't had a ton of experience with Malbecs prior to giving this one a whirl. However, this one really knocked my socks off. Super smooth with really bright berry notes.
