Old Vine Zinfandel

Cheesy label design, what is a ‘Silk Oak’? Hot at 14.6% ABV. Dark color. Smells nice. Hint of funky stuff (latex and wood). Lacks a heavy fruit level on the nose. Flavors are jammy with a hint of grape soda. Bit of nothing the mouth. Has the tannins. Bit of complexity. Licorice root. Could be more savory and complex, but this will scratch yer OVZ itch.

Overpowering smoked tobacco, metallic undertones and burnt bacon. Not one of my favorites.

Nose: eraser, raisin, toasted wafer. Taste is watery - communion wafer plus cheap wine.

Dark, blackberry, tannic, long finish.

Thin garnet color, legs 7/10. Smells very bright, like cherry tobacco and ripe oak. Taste is also tobacco heavy, but has the presence of fruit at the beginning. Definitely a wine for someone who smokes... Not for me.

Silky and true to its name. Tannic but good mouth feel.

Delicious!

Superb red. Wonderful thick berry flavor but with a touch of eucalyptus or anise.

Good Zinfandel from H-E-B. A little heavier, could almost pass as a cab.

Smooth, mild spice, good flavor
