Nose is fairly unique for a Zin, with bloody raw lamb, funk, intense green peppercorn, and blackberry juice. In the mouth, it’s not jammy or fat, but surprisingly chiseled for Lodi, with rich blackberry essence that hits the mouth and then evanescently turns savory. The only Lodi giveaway is the low acidity. Bone dry. Finish is pretty tenacious. Great value.

UPDATE: After a couple of hours, the green peppercorn calmed way down, and the fruit and earth moved to the fore.
