Barrel Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine had a great fanfare preceding it. Let's do the shakedown...
A very flamboyant nose, dominated by vanilla - over done in my opinion.
The palette is plush and velvety. Tannins are polished and well defined. The fruit is overwhelmed by oak and vanilla. Such a shame, since the structure and raw components are strong and evident. It's a good wine, but it's overdone. Winemaker needs to throttle back for the next vintage.

Professional integrity and personal association with the brand-owner keeps me from officially rating this.
But if I say that Denis Malbec was the winemaker I think you get the point.

Promising new label, some green-ness of young vines mellowed by nice merlot. Richly delineated dark fruit, a class blueberry act. I'll follow this one just for the sense of licorice-laden quality and Bordeaux feel it delivered.
