Vin de Pays de Côtes Catalanes Grenache
A medium-bodied Grenache from France. Showing red and black fruits with chocolates, earth and light vegetables.
Fruit forward and nicely balanced.
Medium-bodied with medium acidity.
Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some complexity.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

I enjoyed this wine but also was a bit disappointed. Tannins are medium for a Grenache; meaning I expected more but found it more approachable. Raspberry flavors were dominant, some dark chocolate and something else I just couldn’t put my finger on. There was also a pepper finish that was noticeable as you drank but didn’t really stand out or linger as expected. Pepper is something I look for her but I found myself “forgetting” it was there, which is unusual for a quality Grenache. Overall, the fruit hits quick, the tannin lingers and the pepper is lacking. A good introduction to the grape, but the flavor staples are underperforming.

Apr 17th, 2020Based on some other reviews here I was no expecting the excellent, flavor bomb of a Grenache as contained in this bottle. Absolutely delicious with plenty of fruit and chocolate with hints of pepper and wood. Paired supremely with a pork tenderloin with figs, honey and balsamic vinegar. The echo of flavors between the Balsamic and wine was especially enjoyable. What a great value.

Apr 16th, 2020Medium-bodied, fruit forward, mild tannins; fine out of the bottle, but let it breathe a bit for a fuller flavor; red and black fruit, chocolate, spice, wood #hopvwineclub #houseofpurevin #coronavino
