Shafer Winemaker Elias Fernandez & his “relentless” pursuit of quality. A blend of 76% Syrah & 24% Petite Sirah, shows a lush & rich wine. Aged for 30 months, 100% new French oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruit, smoke and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum & blueberry with notes of vanilla, licorice and smoke. Fine silky tannins, long finish, great mouthfeel ending with fruit, herbs and spice. One of the best Syrah’s tasted. Will age well!

2013 is a monster. Has years to go. Big, deep, structured. Big fruit of dark berries, olive, dried leaves,… tasted over 3 days.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime.
Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and spicy.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.
Showing black fruits with cedar vanilla leather spices tobacco, herbs, light vegetables, chocolate coffee peppercorn
Jammy a bit and still young. Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly.

This is pop and pour smooth. So refined and pretty. I was served blind and did guess Syrah, but it is so balanced I guessed an older vintage (only because it wasn’t huge). Tannins are super fine, blue and red fruits with a savory essence. Best Syrah we’ve had!

Feb 19th, 2020Wow. 18 years old and fresh. I kept looking at the label to make sure I didn’t pick up the wrong one. Beautiful, deep, and settled in so it’s no longer a fruit bomb.
