2018 Sequitur ‘The Jack’ Pinot Noir- Named after Michael Etzel’s beloved grandson, this outstanding 2018 Sequitur Pinot Noir is a resounding success from this warm vintage in Oregon. The nose is deeply perfumed with guava and dark cherry tones alongside peat moss, Mandarin orange rind and Umami tones that all meld in the glass. The palate is seamlessly textured with great poise and length. Layers of tart red fruits mingle with smoky minerals, pine needles and shades of kumquat rind on the palate. Simply gorgeous now with its very pretty and pure red fruit profile, this beautiful Ribbon Ridge AVA Pinot Noir will have some great cellaring potential. Drink 2021-2035- 95

Limpid ruby-red. Smoky, mineral-accented aromas of black raspberry, cherry cola and incense carry a strong spicecake overtone. Stains the palate with sappy red berry liqueur, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that are lifted and given definition and tension by juicy acidity. At once rich and nervy, with no excess fat but showing excellent depth and intensity of flavor. Finishes with sexy notes of candied violet and smoky Indian spices and superb, gently tannic persistence. This wine's Beaux Freres bloodline is very clear to see. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Dec 2016)

A real nice bottle. Bigger than I expected and had a fair amount of depth in its fruit.

A really fantastic Pinot from Mike Etzel! Brought it back from a trip to Ribbon Ridge. Dried fruits and rocky notes predominate with a lingering smooth finish. An elegant Pinot for sure. Drinking in its prime.

I’m still trying to figure out Oregon Pinot Noir. Lots to like in this bottle...lively, youthful, concentrated red cherry with spice and herbs. Will be interesting to revisit over the next 5-10 years.
