Saar Spatlese Riesling

Post holiday, plain vanilla Spatlese by Selbach. Damn. Just very pure, if Spatlese can be honest, this is. Dense & packed with flavor.

Spring in a bottle. So fresh and pure.

Lime zest, winter brassicas, herbal. Mellow acidity, long citrus finish.

Fun, easy, thirst-quenching. This is not a serious wine and I love it for it. Just a spatlese with plenty of juicy fruits, ripe aromas, and little complexities of verbena and mineral. Great companion for crappy Chinese takeout and couch lounging on a hot night.

Nose is comprised of petrol fumes and ripe red apples. The palate brings some of the acid, and all of the sweetness you'd expect, but the buckets of gloppy sugar are just too much for it.

Poured myself a glass. All of a sudden the bottle was empty. Guess it was pretty good.

Citrus and minerals run through wine. Lingering flavor, best Riesling for the price so far.

Penetrating petrol and apriums (apricots pollinated by plums), fresh coconut milk, and mandarins, this is a polished and balanced thirst slaking Spätlese that shows the Saar in its elegance and at the same time its approachable nonchalance -and at 10% alcohol by volume you could hang out all day. Even after five minutes reflecting on this my lips still tremble by this. This is a dynamic sleeper Riesling -just the way I like them best.

Winner! Outstanding and luminous in all facets. Selbach, stunner of a spätlese.
