So great. Loads of ground, smoky sandstone, ripe blackberry, maple syrup. Rich, structured, so good, so balanced. My favorite Zin plot of land.

Needed a big friendly Zin to help obliterate an unusually stressful week at work. This Zin is so flavorful yet contained. Fruit, spice, intense minerality, concentration, length, balance. Hard to name a patch of earth that creates better Zin than Monte Rosso. Superb.

This is retro-Zin, before the majority were off-dry, low acid fruit bombs from f*cking Lodi. Nose has significant minerality, leaning toward the sandstone end of the spectrum, along with classic ripe blackberry Zin fruit and a smoky maple syrup note. Sinewy (in the good way) and athletic in the mouth, with full body and very nice acidity. Very rich but bone dry. The finish is ripe blackberry, minerals, and zesty acidity. Bring on the beef stew!

A Gym Zin. Lots of muscle and sinew, little fat. Nose has deeply gravelly notes over dark blackberry and a hint of dark maple syrup. Deep flavors show off loads of minerals and clingy dark berry extract. Big, lengthy, and balanced. Really fine.

Iconic Sonoma Mountain Vineyards ‘Monterroso’. This is one of their best Zin from Zeghesio Winery! Love it.

Smokey, slight gaminess, baking spices and rose petals. A bit hit in the palate. M acid and body. M+ tannin and alcohol. This is a bug wine.

Lovely zin. Plenty of red and dark berries. I still remember the taste of pomegranate. Full body with balance.

Incredible stuff, purchased this from winery, always enjoyed their Zin and they have some compelling single vineyard offerings: this is from their oldest vineyard planted in 1880s: inky deep dark completely opaque, looks like current vintage, after several hours it pried loose gorgeous blue & black fruit, vanilla, beef jerky, hoisin sauce, forest, white pepper, smoke, dried herbs… just unbelievable depth & complexity. Huge on palate, muscular firm grippy tannins, so much blue & black berry fruit, liqueur-like, great earthy peppery elements alongside fruit. Smooth rich lingering finish. Forgot how much we paid, but this over delivered and has a LONG life ahead.

March 2019, Had the 2014 vintage bought at Seghesio winery. Great zinfandel. Drunk it with friends visiting us. Paired with pork with shiitake mushrooms .

Nice fruity notes. Low tannins as expected. Acidity is mild. Good value. 2016
