Opened and decanted about two hours prior to service. No formal notes due to the setting but this was phenomenal; showing much younger than its age would suggest. The color was still ruddy and while it was vinous, it had lovely fruit and structure. Still identifiable as Merlot despite its age. Dreamy stuff by one of the true icons of California wine counter-culture. Drink now.

Certainly tired, but still a treat. Sean's first commercial vintage. #HospiceduRhone Paso "Rhone Exchange" dinner with Yves Cuilleron, Francois Villard and John Alban.

Bought this for fun and historical interest, as it was Sean's first commercial release. Good fill, gnarly cork, with just a small dot of seepage. Surprising color, still bright red but light bodied, almost Pinot-like. Fruit has faded but still some tannin hanging on. Fun bottle and not bad for a rookie effort after 33 years.
