Nov 28th, 2019as harvest time came again i once again visited sea horse winery to help with grape sorting (3rd vintage for me).
after a satisfying day of hard work i fetched a couple of bottles.
this is 2019 wild chenin whose π i helped sorting 2 years ago. so some of my sweat went in the bottle, metaphorically.
100% estate grown chenin blanc.
wild fermentation.
9 months in french oak.
14.5% ABV
green with gold hints π
honeysuckle and other freshly chopped π», vanilla, yogurt, thyme, green apple, peach, apricot, lemon and limeπ
medium + body.
medium + acidity.
oak spices including vanilla and clove, green apple, peach, apricot, grapefruit peel, lemon and lime, salted nuts, flowers and some grated ginger and white pepper, yogurt and a hint of cheese. lovely and complex π
medium + π―
amazing wine. and that's about it.
great vfm (110 nis). even better in exchange for labor.
was nice with smoked Wheat (friki), spiced garlicky yogurt and super fresh Israeli salad.
but the wine rises above it all.
one of the best Israeli whites i had, if not the best. and consistent.
a few more years will make it even better.

i was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to help sorting out chenin blanc grapes in seahorse winery as part of 2019 wine preparation.
i recieved a bottle of last year's wine as a gratitude.
100% chenin Blanc
wild fermentation with no added yeast.
9 months french oak treatment.
14.5% ABV πͺ
lots of sweetness in the grape for the yeast to burp all this drunkability.
pale straw with some yellow hinted π
colder it's some tropics jumping out at ya.
getting warmer it's almost completely replaced with lemon oil, stone fruit and hints of honey and grated ginger π
medium plus body.
bursting high acidity.
it takes a few sips to comprehend the taste.
tart and peachy first. some bitterness coming and hiding at every other sip. π is filled with balanced and complex tartness and other friends.
dry medium π―
a winner that is thought provoking.
this is harmonious complexity, and that is always interesting.
good vfm (110 nis).
quality isn't cheap.
had it with lime(juice and peel) and parmigiano pasta the 1st day, they were good friends but not bff.
on it's own second day. wine is always better with something to munch on.
