Boars' View The Coast Pinot Noir
WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!
Fantastic stuff and drinking superbly. This has all the check marks for textbook Cali Pinot. The red and black fruits lean toward the overripe side which adds some richness. A very woodsy/cedar note on the mid palate, with a cherry liqueur like finish. Thanks for bringing, @Joe Lucca .

This is my fourth bottle of the '12 Boar's View and it is finally (!) rounding out and becoming a worthy TRB wine. No longer just a juicy fruit bomb that overpowers. It was very full bodied and lush with notes of cola, black cherry and underbrush. Opening well now and it will get better for years. I'd say this is a 15 year PN.

Aug 27th, 2017Pre party for Rolling Stones in SD. Very primary now but not hot. Just a lot of fruit and not as much round edges. Bigger style Pinot but really does it well. I'd hold or decant right now. Should develop superbly.

May 4th, 2016Flavors are still hidden behind a canon of acidity. Bing cherry, green strawberry, some spices are in there. It feels hot with alcohol. Let it rest a while.

Apr 22nd, 2016True to the Schrader brand- big upfront fruit. Needs time to find its balance but will not disappoint collectors of Thomas Browns' wines.

At this stage the herbaceous qualities of this Pinot seem at least as strong as the fruit --I get lots of chervil, tarragon, nettle, and behind this, raspberry, blackberry , Rainier cherry. Firm tannin. All in balance with medium-plus acidity. Complex. Should resolve very nicely indeed and look forward to revisiting this wine in 5-7 years.

Jul 5th, 2015I waited a few years since the last bottle, but I don’t think it has improved much. Very dark and extracted, but not much fruit at all. Plenty of structure with some pleasant spices. Maybe my expectations were just all wrong for what this bottle would be.
