Dinner party so no formal notes. Entering its prime drinkability window. Really nice balance and freshness to go along with the ‘15 depth.

Terrific, though very young, wine. Nose takes some airing to emerge. Then, rich dark cherry fruit, complemented with lots of warm sandstoney scents, cracked rocks, and exotic spice notes. In the mouth it’s tightly wound, but shows really good concentration and depth, with excellent acidity and (of course) lots of youthful, but fine-grained, tannin. Really good now, but will improve for at least 5 or more years. Rating is 9.3+. Really nice with Marchegiani pasticciata, an eye of the round that’s larded and then braised with vegetables, red wine, and tomatoes, then sliced and braised some more!
