Santa Carolina
Reserva de Familia Valle del Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon
Campfire wine; smoky, meaty, vegetal, and a good dose of fir tips. Rich and velvety with plenty of balance. Totally outside my norm and really enjoying it!

Oct 3rd, 2013Deep ruby in color; cassis, blackberries, and graphite on the nose; medium minus acidity; high tannins; tastes like green peppercorns, menthol, wet gravel, and clay dust with a long finish. I think it needs to breath for a bit.
After a little time in the glass it added a black cherry flavor to what I de ribbed above. Much more on balance. It tastes like an old world cab. It's a little bitter, otherwise I would rate it higher.
