Mahe and Ribo celebrating the birth of twin boys for Fraser and his wife Andrea. This is a sumptuous wine. Initially a barnyard note on opening which blew off. On the palate lush, soft and silky - the product of old Shiraz vines. Blackberry and blue fruits with a dried meat charcuterie note and a hint of coffee grounds on the medium bodied palate. Medium plus palate intensity but it’s the trademark silkiness that wins you over. Soft persistent tannins. Followers of Sami Odi know that their premium wine every year is often a blend of several vintages but this one was just the 2015 vintage because the fruit was so good.

Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.

Another one of my contributions. I put this on the SQN table as I think there are a lot of similarities. This required a couple of hours to start roaring to life, but once it did, it took zero prisoners. The aromatics of these wines is what got me hooked...an incredible amount of baked blackberry and blueberry pie, topped with smoked cocoa shavings. It’s not as dense as you’d expect on the palate (in a good way), revealing just a small hint of smoked meat and peppered strip. The finish on these wines last forever.

2015 Sami-Odi Mahe & Ribo Syrah. I’ll sum it up in one sentence. This wine rivals the SQN Piranha Waterdance I tasted last night. I believe that the Fraser McKinley train has officially departed from the station. My condolences to all left standing on the platform. Very much looking forward to the new release! @Fraser McKinley

Not even trying to introduce any of the three game changers, but that's what the trio Zappa-Chatwin-Sami Odi have been to me.; they have showed me a different way of looking at what they do
Thank you🙏🙏🙏
Barossa with complexity, elegance and drinkability. Not that obvious I'd say
Ps the bottles all look amazing

Dense color to the rim. Red fruit and plum. Long harmonious finish. I wouldn’t have known about this if not for @Roman Sukley (thanks!). Very pleased to have tried this and grateful to my friends for brining this from the UK.

This wine is young, but it doesn’t seem to matter. Loads of plum right out of the gate followed by raspberries with a little bloody meat showing through. After 45 minute full decant the spice box is starting to show. This is a tremendous wine and super unique. I wish it was available outside of London, Hong Kong, and Australia

2015 Sami-Odi 'Mahé & Ribo' Syrah. Let me just cut to the chase and tell you that this is the best showing to date which makes me want to lock this stuff away and hide the key. Same goes for Baby Tui (I’m down to my last two Fraser!). Midnight ruby in color. Floral aromas of fresh cut violets. Dark fruits with notes of plums, blueberry, anise, sandalwood, and spices. Medium–bodied with smooth tannins and bright acidity. French oak tones. This Wine possesses a subtle savouriness and an extra silky texture that just pushes all my buttons. Mr. McKinley has a deft touch reminiscent of one Manfred Krankl, a gentleman of whom’s work I am particularly fond. Apply for list membership now or forever hold your peace.
