Outstanding - nice butter from the malolactic fermentation no doubt - could be a daily quaff in my book

About a year ago, I drank my penultimate bottle of a vibrant gold '95 Saintsbury Chardonnay 'Unfiltered' that was still drinkable , but definitely faded. This last bottle, also a bright gold, actually has me saying 'wowzer'. Although the fruit has nearly disappeared, the seductively textured and multi-layered palate is loaded with complex secondary flavors of toasted brioche, creamy vanilla, spice, beeswax and butterscotch with a slight hint of oxidation. Still an amazing 20-year-old Chard with enough acidity to keep the finish fresh and lingering for 45 seconds.

After finding a stash of mid-nineties Chards in a wooden box I thought was empty, I opened the bright gold '95 Saintsbury Chardonnay 'Unfiltered' not expecting much. Well, it drank reasonably well with minimal fruit, but pleasant layered spicy flavors. Creamy mouthfeel with a lingering finish. Obviously, long past its prime, but eminently drinkable.

Lovely aromas of pineapple, apple, citrus, melon, and vanilla with a soft touch of butter on the palate.
