L'Exclusive Prestige Cuvée from Ruinart. In magnum. Blanc de Blancs. Base wine is 1993, with blends from '88, '90, '86 and '85 - all Dom Ruinart. Not available for sale. Private collection for guests although our host at the House says they've only opened 3 bottles in last 5 years. Was sold originally in 2000. No longer for sale. Bottle designed by Cristofle, Paris. Not sure who designed the wooden case. Development on the nose of chestnut sauce, morel mushroom, earth and stone fruits - apricot and apricot compote. There's some wet rock notes. On the palate, acidity seems subdued (but evident on the finish) and integrated, and the wine is very delicate and elegant. There's some concentration but no richness or excess. There's some musk notes. Although its long, I would not say it's persistent as the mid-palate isn't huge on this wine. It's more a front end and finish attack - sour apricots to the fore.
