Continuing to work my way through wines I don’t drink a lot I could be tested on. I’m rather fond of this one and it’s an exemplary standard Chianti Classico: tart red fruit, tomato, something sanguine and a full yet well-knitted backbone of tannins and acid to ballast all. Images of pizza are now dancing in my head. Thank god this wine was easier to comprehend than The Shape of Water. Jut sat through my screener of that and have no idea what to make of it. With this wine I just know I should drink it. But also maybe make pizza.

Clear dark ruby in the glass. Nose of black cherry and menthol tea. Medium plus acidity and palate clearing, medium plus tannins usher in the palate of strong black tea, tart cherry, and soft leather. Could keep until 2020 but with a good decant or run through the aerator it's drinking well now. Solid example of the appellation. Food is its friend of course.

A balanced and elegant wine. I cuold feel red fruits on the nose and palate, but in a sublte, not overpowering way

Great value Chianti Classico. Dark cherry aromas and flavors. Medium oak and reasonably mild tannins. Touch of vanilla. Good QPR.

Smells beautiful and tastes even better. Well worth it. Made my night in Jember, Indonesia, even better.

Very good. Standard every day table wine though not a standout in a pinch it works just fine. Paired with fried eggs over Parmesan polenta, sautéed spinach and topped with tomato sauce.

Super juicy with heavy notes of cherry. Sweet and smooth. Light in body.

Honestly? I don’t really remember this one very well, so it’s safe to assume it was just average — possibly overpriced at Lago. Definitely overshadowed by a hearty five-course NYE prix fixe. Or maybe I just need to drink more Chianti Classicos. (maybe... definitely)
