A second try in a few weeks. Poured after a blind cab tasting and was just another level above. Bold fruit, red and black berries, pencil shavings, fig. Beautiful finish. Lush.

A very powerful Cab nose, with syrupy boysenberry aromatics. Blackberry, vanilla hints, bing cherry and dark chocolate mid palette profile. Can’t wait to see how this progresses.

Another special gem from Oakville. Rudd produces some stellar wines and this Samantha is a shining example of a Cab that is coming into its own. Still would improve on the shelf for another 10+ years.

The 2016 'Samantha’s' Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely stunning. It instantly begins with an impressive dark inky color, followed by extremely expressive aromatics of ripe blackberries and cassis woven together with graphite, fresh violets, earthy minerals, along with underlying mocha and smoke nuances all emerging from the glass. On the palate this possesses wonderful full-bodied richness, yet demonstrates remarkable overall balance and poise. It goes on to impress with its remarkable depth and concentration, as layers of fresh ripe dark fruits continue to build and expand on to the long supple finish. Complex, pure and totally harmonious, this utterly fascinating Cabernet from Rudd is already outstanding, yet should go on to flourish as it evolves over the course of the next two decades.

Another 4th Friday for the books. What a much needed time out of the house and to be with friends after this past week.

Every aspect of this wine is Oakville. Nose and palate were identical...a powerful blackberry mid-palate note, graphite/lead, floral and herbal, overload of plums. These wines give Gargiulo and other Oakville Cabs a lesson in sheer power. Tannic structure for days, but it doesn’t bite like mountain AVAs. It’s soft, plush, and accentuates the fruit at this young age.

Unlike the Oakville Estate this was bright and generous on pop. It continued to shed tannins and round out with time and air. Lots of purple. Violet hues, ripe plum and Adrian Peterson (purple Jesus)....hedonistic yet inviting and comfortable. Keeping it classy but the pictures in my head of the after wine activity would certainly qualify as my most epic Delectable post. I promise a future Jessica pic in the future. It would be selfish not to share.

Wonderful slightly green notes of cab franc on the nose. Dark fruit and spice on the palate with supple fine tannins.

Not terribly weighty, but nice flavors. Good effort, tough vintage.
