Mild ruby with a wide cherry red rim. A soft nose of subdued cherries and raspberries, along with some smoke and herbs. What else can you say about Santa Barbara right now? So many amazing wines coming from there right now. This is not a showstopper Pinot at all, it grows on you until you belatedly realize that you really, really liked it. Low to medium acid with not much heat from the alcohol, thankfully. This is crafted as a pure Pinot, not the most complex but still remains very interesting. In the mouth, the palate is more intense than the nose. More red fruit, just brighter. Damp earth notes, mild oak, black tea, and a bit of spice. This is a grower, not a shower. Starts off a bit shy but ends up as a terrific. I adored this little baby.

A very average pinot noir. Fortunately restrained for a California pinot perhaps because from a cooler climate but also lacking in any layering or complexity. Very drinkable, not very exciting.

Pleasant pinot from the Santa Maria Valley; more acidic than other pinots from the same region; raspberry, dark cherry, and a slight hint of smoke; medium body with a short finish.

Firm and lush, very much a bolder Pinot noir compared to others. Solid plum and pomegranate flavors with small notes of more tart cherry or dried herbs/flowers. Not incredibly complicated but drinks very well.
