Deep shimmering ruby. Smoke- and spice-accented cherry and black raspberry on the nose and in the mouth. Juicy and appealingly sweet, offering pliant red and blue fruit flavors and subtle hints of succulent herbs and licorice. Round, even tannins add gentle grip to the finish, which lingers with very good, spicy tenacity. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Loved the way this was showing. Almost light on its feet. Not overly extracted at all. Beautiful Rhone wine.

Very earthy but with intense acid structure. There is some bramble and garigue notes here as well. medium body. This wine is young, 2013, and will develop complexity as it sits.

Delicious. Smoky but great fruit coming through. Drank at Le Dip in DC.

Subtle fruit on the nose. A lovely mix of fruit and tannins and spice. Not a lot of depth but a very versatile wine!

This was an 87 on day one and an 89 on day two, almost completely different wines. Huge flavor density, initially like stewed strawberry and heavy tannins and an almost sauce-like texture, but it leveled out on day two into a rich wine with nice red and black fruit with dried herbs. It really wants food, and I can see it with lamb particularly well.

2016 Roucas Toumba Vacqueyras “La Grande Terre”. 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre. Dark, grippy wine that drinks a lot like good Bandol. A lot going on in a sub $20 weeknight red. Will be buying more. Drinks especially well with Bon Iver.

After nearly a week in Las Vegas subsisting on vodka tonics and oaky CA chardonnay, my palate is nearly ruined. Back to earth now, starting with this vacqueyras. Well, what of it? Deep purple, initial minerality and burst of acid, then its all ripe fruit and alcohol, disappearing faster than a pile of chips at the blackjack table. A bit green, and perhaps worth revisiting in a year or two.

Stinks so good. Super earthy, herbaceous and weird.
If you like weird, you will like this.
Stewed fruit, smells like seaweed and au-jus.
This shit is the shit. For real tho.
