Nov 1st, 2024The 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella is an elegant beauty, with cooling herbal tones and cloves embellishing baked cherries and hints of incense. This opens with a lovely inner sweetness, its ripe red and black fruits energized by vibrant acidity. Violet florals and suggestions of cocoa swirl throughout. The 2010 finishes long—still slightly tannic yet coming into its own, leaving a mentholated freshness and a tinge of cinnamon spice that lingers on. While this is made in the older style of Dal Forno, sporting just over six grams-per-liter of residual sugar, 17% alcohol and 100% American oak, the balance is absolutely perfect. Dec 30th, 2019Just a few bottles from an awesome Open That Bottle Night celebration this past weekend.
Never had anything like this. It was captivating. The fruit is all dark and very stewed and muddled. Sweet toasted blueberry and blackberry pie. Black licorice and tar. What a great wine @Keith Fisher

This was power and richness beyond belief and comprehension. Still a baby at 21 years old! It kept improving in the glass throughout the long night. A WOTN in the making but maybe not tonight. Almost demi-sec, gateway to Reciotto roots, thick-a-brick with concentrated plum raisin flavors but fresh acidity and imminence to amaze and keep you coming back for another taste (especially with some late night cheeses!).
