Been two years. Nose is minty, forestry, dusty wood shavings, some bing cherry and some nice tar, cigar and fresh tree bark after a nice spring rain. Another one of this wines that smells like a scene in nature. Compelling nose. Elegant and juicy but with formidable tannins. This needs air. It will get it. Totally closed initially. But great length. Really great length. Mid palate opens up quickly after initially being closed. Deep, very serious wine. Amazing power, depth and concentration. This needs 5 years but very compelling. My score is too low most likely.

Nose of chestnut, spice and elegance. Cherries. Ethereal. Mineral. Very elegant and pretty. Layered and ephemeral. Soft and juicy with terrific sweetness and brightness. Concentrated and bright mid palate and engaging velvety tannins. Pure and sweet. Lovely. Big tannins starting to come in but fruit and sweetness keep pace. Improving greatly.

In a great place. Cherry flower, sawdust, floral roses, so mineral, subtle and very pretty. Palate is lush and full of cherries, so juicy and mouthfilling with lovely opulence and freshness all at once. Round, and deep. Super fresh and lovely sour cherry. Just invigorating. Terrific purity

Lovely nose. Chestnut, spice, huge minerals, spice and more spice. Smells like a place I want to be. Amazing depth and purity. Terrific fruit and velvety grainy tannins. So balanced, ethereal and pure. Also a hint of aromatic armpit funk which I adore. So juicy and with a dynamic structure but also an accessibility from the velvety tannins and superb fruit. A baby but not inaccessible. Long finish. Not as elegant as 13 but more depth and fruit.

Really good but so different from the Novarese (I’m not gonna say the new-fangled “Alto Piemonte”) reds I cut my teeth on. Extremely light color, beautiful scents of macerated, barely ripe cherry, gravel, and old mahogany furniture. Fantastic acids make this a great wine to accompany rustic, rich dishes (like the red wine and sausage risotto I cooked tonight). Loads of minerality on the finish.

The color as it should be. Light. But so so intense and vivid. This always needs 30 minutes but then it’s s rockstar. Glorious flowers, tar and sour cherries on a bed of intense minerality. Palate is juicy, ripe and so elegant with delicate cherry fruit that really saps out on the finish. Very pure and so refined. Young but wonderful. Terrific freshness.

Shockingly light color. Nose is really nice with spice, rocky gravel, and chokecherry. Lean but flavorful. Loads of macerated cherry fruit and mineral. Some tannin in the crisp, fairly lengthy finish.

Stunning nose. Deep mid season cherry. Chestnuts. Tar, leather, roses. So earthy and mineral. I love it: smells like it’s from a place. So old school. Palate is elegant and ethereal with stunning purity and freshness. What depth and complexity. Wonderful earthy, chestnut finish. So long. Impressive elegant tannins and stunning velvety texture to them. Brilliant.

80% Nebbiolo, 15% Vespolina & 5% Croatina

Color not of a wine of only 5 years...deep yet translucent ruby, brown edges, stunning.

Nose, I'm in love! If there was such a thing as a cherry with rose petal that was actually a rock and you could eat it without losing all your teeth or you're a Rock Biter, this is that wine!

Palate...cherry, cherry and did I mention cherry? Oh Nebbiolo how I love thee. Baking spice, anise, oh the palate is continually changing, I'm confused and over joyed, god damn life is complicated, or is it easy?

Paired this bottle with 4+ hour, slow/low grilled spare ribs and Brahms 7th Symphony, amazballs as my buddy would say!

96hr Update: Not losing a step, this is a very good sign!

This wine demands your attention. It’s got a surprisingly light and advanced color. But the wine has lots of life. It’s really a Nebbiolo that is a vehicle for the stony soil rather than for the grapes’ fruit. Some cherry fruit but mostly fragrant minerality here. A rather austere style in the mouth that really shines with food.
