Tart cherry, plum, herbs, licorice, acid, a little VA. Needs a lot of air. A bit disappointing so far. Will check in tomorrow. Better and more open day 2. Raised the rating a bit.

Just had another bottle of this beauty, a Gran Selezione, new premium level approved in 2014, min 80% Sangiovese, must all be estate grown, min 13% alcohol & min 30 months aging. A blend of 95% Sangiovese & 5% Merlot, aged in French oak. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits and gentle spice notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry & ripe blackberry fruit with cacao & baking spices, good balance with lively acidity. Fine structured tannins, long finish ending with a fruit & mineral character. Nice!

Still tannic. Did not improve the first time I tasted.

Medium ruby-garnet color.
Aromas of roasted red pepper, cherry, peppercorn, tomato leaf.
Dry. Flavors of dried black cherry, peppercorn, roasted red pepper, cured meat, cinnamon, leather, tobacco. Medium-rich, chewy tannins. Wow!

This time is pleasant, but seems over the hill.

Fabulous Sangiovese- we’ll balanced flavor, acidity and complexity. Great with food.

Cherries and a bit of fruit. Good amount of tannins. Probably will improve with aging.
