Old school Napa Oakville cab... this wine is an infant. The balance is impressive. Tannin, oak, and fruit are all there... but in balance. Notes of Oakville dust on the nose... dark, vibrant purple with sweet notes of cassis, leather and tobacco. This wine reminds me at a visceral level of what I fell hard in love with 40 years ago... no 15% cab candy, no viscous sweet cab syrup... this is serious weighty cabernet that sings with a rare filet for Valentines. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Robert Mondavi... and this wine shouts to all of us why. Bravo Robert-- thank you. Wish I had a case of this shit!

This is a pretty tasty bottle for the $, although not as good as an '04 Oakville consumed last winter. Has a nice mix of sweet and savory elements that makes it a nice food companion.
