From Mondavi who created Fume Blanc! Blended with a little Sémillon, pale lemon, with aromas of stone fruits, smoke and floral herb notes. On the palate flavors of apricot, lemon and ripe pear with smoky notes. Medium length with vivid acidity ending crisp. Nice value.

Remarkably more character when cold. Starts with pear and green apple, hints of grapefruit, lemongrass, bell pepper, grass, asparagus. A little swirl revealed jalapeno on the palate, not the nose. A familiar flavor that resonated, but was somehow hard to pinpoint - ended up being soft, creamy cheese. This wine would end up being a good pairing with jalapeno cream cheese something...

Mondavi's '13 Fumé Blanc displays pale yellow in the glass, and its nose gives subtle fruit with a soft earthiness. The wine is very much in the old-world style of Sauvignon Blanc. There is almost no grassiness on the nose, with stone fruit and tropical notes coming forth. The palate is just as elegant, with a softness that is quite unexpected in this grape. Slightly smoky apricot and mango are in the forefront, while acidity takes a backseat. I would love this with a ham as much as I would with bacon and eggs. Yes, for breakfast, even at 14.5% abv.

First Fumé Blanc I've tried. It was rich and smooth with an acidity you recognize in a typical Sauvignon Blanc. There wasn't any sharp citrus characteristics but they were still there. A nice balance of acidity and a creamy mouth feel.
