Acidity high and out of balance. Thinner than the 2012 I had recently. Just ok.

When pairing a steak, look no further. Amazing mouthfeel, fine tannins, good acid, long finish. Oak is prevalent, but in balance with the fruit. Perfect steak pairing.

I was first introduced to Keenan in the early 90's and the vehicle was their Merlot. Age has just made the wine and essentially all the wines from them truly spectacular. No fancy chateau, you taste in a glorified yet comfy barn, by appointment only mid way up Spring Mountain. The wines speak of place, as they should and this Merlot is front and center. Deep garnet in color, soft, mild notes of violets on the nose carry into a smooth, silly mouth feel with well integrated tannins and long finish. Medium intensity, subdued elegance and wonderfully balanced.

This was tasty later in the night at #hautejeter - a rich, complex and interesting merlot.

Had this with Mother's Day Brunch. Very nice, full bodied, but balanced. Would hold up to heavy red meats with big sauces. Smokey with good dark berry fruit.
