Robert John Vineyards
Cabernet Sauvignon
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Shows a great nose with lots of licorice notes. So interesting.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherry, raisins, dried figs, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, mocha, cola and light pencil lead.
I had it a year and a half ago and it is aging very nicely. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This Single Vineyard is interesting, rich, elegant and stylish.
Tasty right out of the bottle and much better after 3 hours of airtime, so be patient.
Lovely wine from a great vintage. Just Delicious.
15.2% alcohol by volume.

This Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable. Still young and needs another few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Full bodied and smooth with black fruits and chocolate notes, vanilla, cedar, leather, spices, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Great nose with wild flowers.
Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show the tannins.
Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Petit verdot, 3% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 26 months in French Oak barrels.

It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a great Napa Cabernet.
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pronounced nose of red cherries, vanilla, blueberries, light oak, dust, tobacco, light vegetables, graphites, alcohol, spices, herbs, leather, earth and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, cloves, vanilla, wood, earth, leather, coke, tobacco leaf, bitter vegetables, herbs and black pepper.
Medium on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a very nice Cabernet based Bordeaux blend. Showing nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. A wine that keeps changing as it opens up, which is always enjoyable.
Feels more like a new world bold Pinot Noir. Very unique.
Good by itself or with food. Still young and needs another 5 years to mature. Has good potential to be a 92+ point wine.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins. After 2.5 hours, it changes again, and the new world Cabernet shows up. Definitely still young. I've had the 2013 not too long ago and loved it.
I paired it with Brie cheese and roasted almonds.

It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous Cabernet from Napa Valley.
Deep ink in color with a short Ruby rim.
A gorgeous nose of blueberries, currants, cherries, wild strawberries, dried figs, cedar, vanilla, dark coffee, light vegetables, tobacco leaf, earth, chocolates, eucalyptus, black pepper and Mediterranean spices.
Full bodied and gentle with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, sweet spice, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, mocha, earth, graphite, leather, coke and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a wonderful example of a Napa Cabernet. Showing great complexity with a wonderful nose and a great, smooth and gentle mouthfeel. Very elegant.
Still not showing its 6 year old age and could age very nicely in the next 15 years.
Good right out of the bottle and much better after an hour, when all these flavors open up on the nose and palate.
By now, the alcohol is well integrated alcohol, although it is very high.
Good by itself or with food and a great sipping wine to have with friends and talk about.

With a filet and potatoes and corn on the cob - my fave grilling meal with a great cab. This one was a typical Napa Cab with ruby color, black fruit aromas and tannic, dry. Opens up with more flavor and complexity after 90 min of decanting.

Mar 24th, 2022Needs an hour to open but really pleasant. 100% cab , last bottle deal so +/- skeptical. Cola, vanilla, fruity, wee bit underbrush/dry herbs.
