Great Barolo, in its prime and still had freshness. Amazing texture!

Riper than I expected for 1996, but in excellent condition with a lot of texture.

Beautiful wine from a very mixed vintage. Still, needed a double decant ( splashed on the label!) and time to come together and fill out.

A bit muddy. Maybe needed more time to settle.

Not the riserva. Super young. Wait another decade!

A rare bird! Made in a muscular traditional style with dark berry fruits, tar & balsamic notes. Like most 96’s needs time

Darn. Darn it. Fiddlesticks. I picked up a bunch of 90's Roagna Barolo several years back. A few years ago this wine was glorious. It was the thing we talk about when we wanna talk about Barolo. This tasted like that bottle a few years past its prime. It tasted like it was limping a bit. It made me sad. Perhaps had I never tasted it's glorious brethren I would have enjoyed this bottle more.

Really, really good with capunet @ the best Piedmontese restaurant outside Turin. Just excellent traditional Barolo. Buy the producer, not the vintage.
