A Xmas gift from @Mike R and Rhonda - thank you so much my brother.
This is unusual for an Aussie wine in that it’s moderate and restrained in a good way. Smooth entry on the nose with mandarin and white flowers. Palate is lithe, linear, and presents with weight. Lemons and lychee come to mind. Not much acidity to talk about, but it really doesn’t need it. Excellent product.

17’Powell & Son Roussanne Marsanne.

Callum Powell convinced his father to make this wine. Happy he did so.

This is a 70%-30% blend.
FROM THE WINERY-

“The Roussanne Marsanne shows notes of butterscotch, honeyed citrus, stone fruit, white florals and apricot kernel. The palate is shows creamy phenolic texture, though not in the slightest part oily. Flavours of stone fruit and honey abound with light lemony acid to maintain the long finish. The wine finishes with white peach and subtle savoury ham hock, with persistent phenolics driving to the end of the palate.”

FYI- They have 2 $750 dollar Shiraz. Had to take a double look.😳

I'll start with "confused". Not sure if there may be more than one version of this blend per vtg?? What I read online not matching what I hv or experience. I'm told its 60mars/50rous. The btl bk label says 68% Roussanne/32% Marsanne. Everyone seems to dig it for dif reasons. My btl was a struggle. Very bitter, almost rancid almond like. Could not identify any other notes except aromatics of unfresh tree fruit. Not cooked fruit but spoiled. Didn't hv a whiff of O2 or cork on it so I'm just mad stumped. Barely better in Zalto burg vs Rdl AP. 30 at KL bfr we left Cali. 13.5% had such hi expectations after holding it 2+ yrs. =(

Wow!!! At a tasting with David Powell of Torbreck fame. This is just amazing. Smokey and Luscious. Great aroma. Great finish.
