River Road Vineyards
Double Oaked Chardonnay
Awful wine. Heavy oily taste. Pass. Tasting Sample.

Jun 25th, 2018Bright gold in the glass. Abundant nose of baked quince and spices. Echoed on the rich full-bodied palate with butterscotch and a slim but sturdy backbone of acidity. Priced low enough for fried chicken. Built voluptuous enough for boiled lobster. Enjoy with either or anything in between.

I like the oak despite others negative reviews

Aug 29th, 2020Had some higher expectations for this, and while double Oakes sounded good, in practice it’s not ready for game day. It’s drinkable - but in the continuum of chards this is left wanting. Something with the abrupt turn at the end of the glass makes this score lower. All the usual chard ingredients are present (oak, citrus and creaminess), but something in the way (to borrow that from Nirvana) makes this more of Kirt’s “underneath the bridge” variety. Wanted this to be more...but alas, It settles below where I had hoped.
