100% whole cluster Grenache grown on granite/schist from Collioure/Côtes Catalanes. Zero added sulfur. Made by Rié and Hiro Shoji, a Japanese couple who attended wine school in Beaune and apprenticed with Fred Mugnier and at Domaine de Chassorney, respectively. On the nose/palate: black and blue fruit, strawberry preserves, herbs, and spices. Wine finishes long and with a savory edge. Tannins are very prominent but not harsh. If opening this vintage soon I would suggest a decant of a couple of hours at least.

Cloves, raspberry and spice. Fruit forward but balanced. Liked this a lot and wish had given it more time.

100% whole cluster Grenache. Slightly on the sweet side for me at first but with time in the glass you seat to get additional notes of black olives following the black and blue fruit. A real votre just full of fun and pleasure! The scarcity of the wine may be causing the wine to be slightly overhyped. Really enjoyed it though! First vintage for the Japanese winemakers in Banyuls.

Whoa - that’s an honest wine. 100% whole cluster Grenache, organic, no pumping, no sulfur added, unfined and unfiltered. There is a lot going on here - will definitely evolve over time, both in the bottle as well as the glass. Lots of spice, pepper, clove on the nose along with brambley raspberries and blue/purple fruit. Lots of tension in this 2018 - could definitely use some time to unwind. Beautiful mid-palate from all the whole cluster. Ripeness with acidity. Lovely.

Wondering why they make sweet wine or vinegar in banyuls.

Through no fault of their own this talented couple have made news for all of the wrong reasons recently. Their first wine is fantastic; fragrant, tender and loaded with sparkle - 2017

Andrew’s review spurred me to pop this. The most Burgundian Grenache I could imagine. If that makes sense. Still a baby.

Stunning wine. One of those rare instances when the reality matches the hype. Incredible concentration, multifaceted. As a friend stated, the most pinot-like grenache we’ve encountered. Layers of dark fruit, minerals, iodine, massive tannins, terrific freshness. A baby with miles to go. I only hope we can get our hands on more.
