Deliciously old school, structured, restrained Zin. Nose has pure spicy blackberry fruit, a whiff of maple syrup, and some almost Tuscan-style dry gravel underneath. Full flavored but with zero jamminess, it’s got the acid and tannin and ripeness to age for many more years. A classic.

Honestly so restrained and complex. Tasting like old burgundy right now with subtle earth, herbs, touch of oak, and old, coated tannins. A couple years can work wonders for this wine.

Deep ruby, oak and oxidative aromas as well as some volatile acidity. On the nose seems ripe and on the palate the tannins are slightly unripe and green.

Our friends shared anecdotes about hanging out with Paul Draper in the 1970s, so it had to be a Ridge night. What a stunner with masses of tannins and acidity, rich with black cherries. It could do with a few years but fun to try now.

Never fails. The few years of bottle age is nice to tame the fruit add a little complexity/elegance/restraint. Tastes like California. Darker salty fruit on day 2. Very good.
