Magnum. What a cooky wine this was. On the nose it was Old World all the way. Had a few people smell without knowing what it was and no one was even close to saying this was a Cali Pinot. Had a couple of people that thought it was a Brunello. Very funky.

These have begun showing Brett/funk, but this bottle is clean. My first without the horseshit kiss. PnP. Forest floor, wet sticks, and a bramble pie cooling by a distant window. This is Autumn Pinot at its most perfect. Plush mouthfeel with viscosity like a mild reduction (not reductive). While the tannin has faded, the concentration provides more than expected structure.

One of the absolute best pinots I've ever had. Initial aromas of potting soil, dusty raspberry/blackberry, pomegranate seeds, and grapefruit rind. After a few minutes, more earthy aromas such as clay pot emerge, followed by vanilla bean. A few minutes later, it's all dark cherry and cranberry chutney. Amazingly complex and continually evolving. The vanilla cream and soft oak emerges late in the palate. Just wonderful.

One of my favorite Rhys wines to date, probably for its light weight and whole cluster aromatics.
