A bit more modern Barolo than I might prefer but with nice body and color. A bit too much coffee and chocolate / mocha. Still good dark fruits, anis / licorice and tar. Served with a New York Strip steak, sautéed spinach and sautéed mushrooms. Interestingly, bottle label says 2007, cork is stamped 2006.

Jul 21st, 2019I guess this is still a baby, but we are sitting here planning our Italy trip for this summer and I have to open something!
This is just starting to turn orange on the rim-- which to me is amazing to me, a 07 brunello would be garnet throughout by now. On the nose I get licorice and other roots, and white pepper with mild cedar. Nothing about this is fruity or Rosy.
On the palate... There isn't a ton going on (hence the 50 dollar price maybe?). The licorice and spice persists but this doesn't lead to an aha moment. This tannins are big and bold for a 2007. Perhaps even massive. So not being an expert on Barolo at the present time, Im not sure if it will improve. My hunch is No.

May 6th, 2019Maybe a little Long in the tooth at this point, but it matures nicely. Dried cherry, hints of chocolate and a smooth finish. It opened nicely and enjoyed it with mussels marinara and pepperoni pizza.
