Sipping Fine Wine

Located halfway up the hill dominating the principal valley of Barolo, supported by steep slopes lined by orderly vineyards, lies the 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Vivid red with ripe red fruits and pepper spice. On the palate cherry and strawberry, some spice, well balanced with savory tannins on a medium finish ending with mineral notes. Tasting Sample.

I would call this a Wednesday Wine. We washed this down with some filet minon covered in truffle butter. Or is it the other way around? For a random pick on a decadent weeknight, it did not disappoint. Three words: Musky, dark and cherries.

Rich dark berry aromas with a hint of petroleum. Rich, ripe and textured on the palate with soft meaty black fruit flavors.

I found this to be super drinkable. A very tart wine, with lots of cherry flavor. It had a good balance, lingered nicely on the palette. I really liked some of the earthy and herby flavors that came through as the fruit flavors dissipated.

Needs some time to develop but shows real potential with ripening fruits and well balanced pepper notes
