Aug 8th, 2024Among my favorite Renaissance wines, surpassed perhaps only by the 2001. Still loads of sweet piquant red and black cherries, currants, stewed plums, dried meat, mesquite wood, chocolate, wet earth, graphite and iron. Tannins have dropped out (as evidenced by the loads of sediment) leaving a velvety smooth texture. Not falling off a cliff but should be enjoyed soon

May 20th, 2024Took a flyer because I was tired of looking at it sitting in my wine fridge but mostly because peach cobbler happened. Was not at all optimistic given the color and was definitely oxidized and lacking in top end but actually not half bad. Can’t complain too much about raisins and brown sugar I guess

Aug 7th, 2022Notes consistent with previous. Showing lots of sweet black fruit, cassis, cedar, mushroom and dried herbs. Drying out ever so slightly on the finish

May 31st, 2021Granite crown is always a treat. Sweet strawberries, blackberries and baked plums, balsamic, menthol, dried beef, mushroom, loamy earth. Definitely time to drink soonish (which I feel is increasingly true of Renaissance wines from this era) but fruit is still there and thoroughly enjoyable.

Sep 26th, 2020One of my favorite California wines. Stony earthy base ove which cherry and blackberry notes sing a sweet song with a faint salty note in the finish. Smooth and supple.

May 5th, 2016This is one of California's most soulful wines. Deep black cherry, crushed stones and dried herbs. Fantastic acidity. Powdery tannins.

Dec 7th, 2015Oh god do I love this wine. Blackberry black cherry and crushed stone tinged with dried flowers and hint of leather. Stunning.
