Vieilles Vignes Le Suchat Saint-Péray Marsanne
Always a great drop and 2020 is a banger. Nose has big time gras, green and orange melon, some papaya and mango as well. So harmonious and integrated. Huge granitic minerality. Palate is rich and ripe and super precise with insane freshness from the minerals. Really coats the palate with this delicate richness and awesome vanilla extract. Really deep and unctuous but so fresh and balanced. Love that palate coating finish with the vanilla extract. Gorgeous now but air will be this wine’s friend. Now with air the nose has plantain, vanilla essence and so much more. So complex. What a silken texture and the fruit is so precise.
On day 2 this levels up! Gras, vanilla extract, guava and so so refined on the nose. Wow, so complex and juicy. Perfect balance. Explosive. So fresh and minerally. What energy! 9.4 to 9.5.

Jul 11th, 2021Superb air minerality. Honeycomb, honeysuckle, huge airiness. Dense, ethereal and layered nose. Wow. This smells like Hermitage. So refined and elite. Palate is incredibly rich and pure. So much energy. Also very very young. Acid is intense as is the finishing minerality. Superb elegance. So well knit and textured. Juicy and so so so mineral. Nimble. Shows it’s old vine breeding. So intense and sappy. Wonderful wine. Treat this like white hermitage. Wait 5-7 years.
9.3 to 9.5 on Day 2.
Sleek aromas of mineral, layered minerals. Huge Marsanne minerality. Yellow fruits, what balance, concentration and juiciness. Sick texture. How pure. Awesome. Amazing depth. This is brilliant. Nimble, long, energetic and mineral. Stunning.

Wonderful old vine Marsanne via @Lyle Fass Selections. Asian pear, acid, minerality and plenty of upside if held. We met Rémy at a Young Winemakers event in Orange in May 2019. Only remember trying his Reds that day, but will be certainly be looking for the whites going forward after enjoying this one.

Jan 25th, 2016Oak, good freshness. Pure as the sky is blue. Still some heat. Not a fan. Finish kills it. Could integrate.

Feb 23rd, 2014Gorgeous out of the gates. Perfect elegant nose. Hard to describe. As it aerates gets more complex. Beeswax? Hay?
The palate is equally perfect. Dense with controlled richness. Like peach sorbet. Just covers the palate with elegant yum. Sorry if that’s a bit colloquial. Nicely mineral. Long finish. Super clean fruit. Not sure if this makes sense but one of the cleanest Rhône whites I’ve ever had. Very restrained for a northern Rhône wine.
Bought from fass selections.
