This is if Krug was made from Marsanne. Just keeps getting better.

Ahhhh. I love this wine. Brioche, yeasty nose. Some exotic Marsanne fruits as well. Mostly yellow. So clear and detailed. Just amazing aromatic freshness. So elegant, so concentrated and so pure. Wonderful texture and sap. Truly floats on the palate. Explosive and super complex and unreal mousse. So so fine. This is showing out of its mind.

This is phenomenal. Just baked pasty notes, yellow fruited, hay, tons of minerals. Toasty and floral. Yellow nectarine and mineral blast. Subtly unctuous, salty, acidic, lingering, nutty, buttery finish. Gives most champagne a run for its money… and I mean top champagne. Brilliant stuff.

Opened 24H in advance with one glass poured to allow for increased air volume in the bottle. I prefer the flavor development of the Saint Peray sparkling wines on the second day open. Just a stunning example of Alt Champagne; Marsanne & Roussanne blend make a spectacular sparkling wine!

Please see prior notes. A tart, saline finish today, second to none!

Alt champagne.

Nose is elegantly rich. The merest hint of florality. Not tropical which is unusual given the grape and region.

Palate is very elegant with a hint of krug like richness and depth.

Bought from fass selections.

80% Marsanne / 20% Roussanne (Brut Nature), believe this is all 2013 fruit.

Nose has toasted honey, oxidized yellow apple, risen yeasty dough, crushed rocks, sweet wood...wow better than I remembered.

Palate has lightly toasted bagel, honey drizzle, fresh yellow apple with a great acidity balance, granite chips, full and rich with a very long finish.

Damn I forgot how good this bottle is, yet I should know better, make a sparkling wine from two awesome (non-champagne) grapes and you get this stunner.

Today's yardwork is complete, time for enjoying some bottles in front of a fire in the chimenea!

I celebrated another year on this planet earlier this week, always glad when I am continuing to count days gone by! Some fun stuff in the works for tonight.

Mineral, light wood notes, more commentary to follow...Needs some air.

This is called “Lys Florissant” and is a Sparkling St. Peray. It’s his tete de cuvee. Very mineral nose but also decadent with brioche and light wood notes. Herbs, lemon peel, so complex. Has that airy weightless feel on the nose of killer Zero Dosage Champagne. Remarkable. Palate is deep, concentrated yet so so elegant. The mousse is so so fine and when you swish hard it is seamless. It has that stunning and so desirable Krug like nuttiness that stays on your palate for minutes. So so intense and so elegant with maximum flavor impact and such a stunningly long finish. Wow. This is amazing. A work of art. 80% Marsanne/20% Roussanne / zero dosage / vines all from 1936. Clay limestone soils. 712 bottles.
