Volnay Pinot Noir

Perfect way to end the Easter Day. Smells like the subterranean streets of Beaune, and tastes of sour reds & Burgundian funk. Truly sublime.

2011, weird bourbon like oak character initially, blew off to reveal a fine wine, dense, red fruited, layered goodness

Maderized at first. Fruit developed after abt 45 min. Acid never slipped and mustiness remained but slight. It's volatile. Had a 20 min window.

Delightful! Youthful & fun

Beautiful wine. No signs if aging.

1978. Perfect condition. Surprised by its quality. Aged very well for a village wine.

In surprisingly good shape for a '98 village-level Volnay. A little hard around the edges, and likely not getting any better, but pretty aroma of cherry, violet, orange peel, touch of tobacco and leather.

Paulee. This was a contender for wine of the night.
