Regio Cantina
Donpà Aglianico del Vulture
Potenza, Basilicata, Italy
Dark ruby color with a thin garnet meniscus. Aromas of hot asphalt, dark berry fruit and violets. Flavors of sour black berry/cherry, balsamic vinegar, dark chocolate and toasted baking spices. Medium-plus finish and chewy tannins. Full bodied with bright acidity. Quite bold and savory.

First encounter with this grape and it's a good surprise! There chocolate and plum on the nose along with cherry and some spices. This is great! The palate is wide and long, with a beautiful fruit, shining all along, a nice matter on the side, a strong acid backbone wich gives an outstanding balance, a rather round mid palate which kicks start a long, fresh finish with cherry and blueberry (?) that lasts for ever! I will need to come back to it!
