Intense clove and allspice aromas initially- a tad reduced. Followed quickly by more smoke, bacon, violet and blackberry character. Meaty, spicy, a bit gamy. Soft tannins and good weight. May take a day or two to come together completely. Always appreciate the IPOB sensibility of Carol’s wines. Not as complex or remarkable as the estate Syrah, but a fairly-priced and elegant bottling.

Dark fruits, earth, olive, pepper and clove. Love these restrained cool climate CA syrahs. Bright acidity and tannin profile make for a food friendly wine for the table

2010 Red Car Sonoma Coast Syrah. Doesn't have the nuance of the pinots for me, but I'm not gonna kick it off the lawn. Good SC typicity.

Unfortunately this was a touch past prime. I think it was a poor seal, cork was stained higher than usual. May have been a recent mishap or temperature flux because the wine wasn't dead, just an 'open for four days' kind of flavor. Still, a lot of savory, meaty goodness. Oh well, next time. ⌛
