Despite age, this showed like current vintage: guessing Bordeaux blend, wet generous nose of red & black fruit, quite peppery, some bell pepper, cocoa, quite nice, palate was elegant, suave, well-knit, big flavors echoing nose w/sturdy integrated tannins. We find for me from NC.

Garnet. Deep dark red cherries. Tannin only slightly pucker. Leather light. Cat 5 refers to Hugo. I was on the Puerto Rican Island of Vieques where we indeed experienced a force 5 hurricane. I’m convinced my invited daughters became twins during the storm so this wine is sentimental as is opening this bottle Mother’s Day weekend. I love Yadkin Valley as our NC wine Center. Beautiful wines are produced in small batches.

Let it decant a little. Wonderful. Lots of flavor but not strong. Very smooth. A little sweetness at the end. Had with steak and paired well.

Odd cooked aromas, like a good Bordeaux that has been heated. Disappointing

Interesting off the nose is expected berries. Dark berry and hint of pepper on the palate. There is a Cab finish on the palate as 2 of the 5 grapes in the blend are Cab Sauvignon and Cab Franc. Very nice.

Nice, a bit high on the acid, but good dark fruit.

2012 vintage. Aged well from last year, smoothed out. Black currant on nose. Tart cherry. Pairing well with fresh sage.
