Darkest color of all the Zins, from a so-so vintage, rich fruit that is somewhat fat and not completely distinctive, fresh and youthful (from my friend John’s super cold cellar), longish and complex finish, kudos to Joel Peterson for the freshness and absolute quality of these two 1988 Ravenswood Zins!!

My cellartracker app indicated this wine peaked in 2003. Not sure what anyone was smoking but this 1990 vintage shows wonderfully.
Color is great for 16 years. Anise, black pepper, lavender and violets aromas. Still tannins hold smoked meat, hard blackberry candy and long finish make this enjoyable.
